Felipe Esparza

Birth name:
Date of Birth:
11 June 1976 Sinaloa, Mexico
Felipe Esparza is best known for his raw, real-life comedy that all audiences can relate to. He is also known for his wild hair and his often-imitated phrase, "what's up, fool?". Many people are surprised to find out that Felipe is the same person referred to and imitated in several onstage stories by fellow comedian, Gabriel Iglesias.Felipe is a product of the streets of East Los Angeles (Boyle Heights, to be exact). There is no subject that Felipe can't make fun of. He could stand on a stage without a single joke and make people laugh, but that wouldn't happen. Felipe is one of the best comedy writers in the business and much of his stand-up writing takes place in the moment on stage.Felipe is one of many new comedians that got immediate television exposure, when he appeared on a Showtime, "Diamonds in the Rough" segment, just 1 1/2 years into his stand-up career. Since that time, he has appeared on numerous television shows, including ABC's "Comics Unleashed", Showtime's "Comics Without Borders", Comedy Central's "Russell Simmons Presents Stand-up at the El Rey", BET's "Comic View" and "One Mic Stand", and Galavision's "Que Locos" (where he holds the title of most appearances by any comedian). In 2009, he completed two feature-length movies. His first was "The Deported", a comedy directed by Lance Kawas and starring Nick Turturro and Paul Rodriguez amongst others. He also just wrapped production on his second feature film entitled, "I'm Not Like that No More", based on his stand-up comedy (and also starring Paul Rodriguez).Felipe can be seen in comedy clubs and theaters all over the United States and in 20010, was on a 65-city tour with the top 5 comics from Last Comic Standing.
