Olivia assembles the team. They track Pastor Drake to a hotel where hes found dead on a bed. But wait, theres more! The muffled sound of the handcuffed woman trapped under his oversized, naked body lets us know that the good pastor was into some fairly kinky stuff. The ladys name is Anna and she has no interest in the hush money Harrison offers her. Huck details the items he needs to dispose of the pastors body. Olivia lets him know that they only need to move the big guy, not dismember him. Soooo much easier.
After Pastor Drake is secretly transported back home, Olivia learns that Anna was the pastors mistress for 15 years. By all indications, shes a saint of a woman who just happened to be in love with a married man. Anna wants six million dollars to keep quiet. A stunned Olivia isnt about to ask Nancy Drake for such an outrageous amount of cash until Anna summons her son. The boy is the spitting image of his pastor dad. Let the negotiations begin!
Abby handles Pastor Drakes funeral arrangements while Harrison pays off all the hotel employees. The goal is to keep the mans legacy intact. Thats why a financial deal is also reached with Anna. The only problem is that the government wants to perform an autopsy. Theyll likely learn that Drake didnt die at home. U.S. Attorney David isnt about to grant Olivia the favor of calling the whole thing off. So, our favorite fixer asks Fitz for help. Actually, she demands that he help her. She also wants him to let her go.
A disturbing photo of a mass grave filled with young bodies has Fitz asking for military options regarding East Sudan. Something about this doesnt smell right to Cyrus. He notices a pensive look on the face of a junior analyst named Matt Turner. The kid is stunned when the President of the United States steps into his broom closet of an office. Matt explains that the crops seen in the background of the mass grave photo prove that this is not a shot that was taken three days ago in East Sudan. Fitz knows the CIA director is behind this. Thats why he asks for his immediate resignation as the photo is deemed to be a fraud.
Things have been particularly icy between Fitz and Mellie lately. Speaking of the First Lady, she pays her respects to Nancy Drake who whispers that her husband had a mistress. Mellie asks for some alone time with the grieving widow. She understands how this woman feels. She also knows that even though her husband cheated on her, they are still partners. She needs to bury the man she married. Everything seems to be on track for a smooth funeral until Olivia learns that Anna now wants more money. In truth, what she really wants is a chance to say goodbye to the man she loved.
As Pastor Drakes funeral is about to begin, Olivia lets Nancy know that Anna would like to attend the service with her son. Fitz gives a stirring eulogy for a man whose legacy will remain unblemished. After the mass, Nancy invites Anna and her son to walk out of the church by her side. As for Fitz, he softens a bit with Mellie when she asks for his forgiveness on the car ride back to the White House. Its a very tender moment that ends as fast as it began. Fitz gets back to work on his side of the presidential limo after having entered into an uneasy truce with his wife.
Quinn secretly skips out of Washington to head back home to Oakland. She meets with her father, who is only mildly supportive of her plight. Quinn was obviously hoping for more from him. She visits the rundown hotel where she was abducted two years ago. Shes not alone. Huck is there to sympathize with her situation, as he is battling his own demons at the moment. He convinces Quinn to come home to DC.
David is livid when he learns the autopsy on Pastor Drake was called off. He knows Olivia is behind it. The hits just keep on coming for our favorite U.S. Attorney when Davids boss sends him on a mandatory leave of absence. Thats not going to stop him from trying to figure out just what went down with the whole Quinn Perkins fiasco.
In random news, James wants a baby, but Cyrus doesnt have it in him to care for another child. Hes way too busy taking care of the United States of America. In Hucks world, hes been attending AA meetings even though the thing he has a thirst for isnt booze or drugs. As for Olivia, she stares at the phone when another late night call comes in. She knows who it is. Thats why she doesnt answer.
Olivia preps Supreme Court Justice Verna Thornton for a TV interview. Once they get some alone time, they share an update on the Quinn situation. Verna admits that part of her wishes they would have let her hang in court. Its clear that the Supreme Court Justice and Olivia Pope share a secret. Its apparently a big one, as Verna believes Quinn Perkins could bring down their entire government.
David Rosen is obsessed with Quinn's case. (from ABC.com)

Artie Hornbacher is a low-level data entry specialist for the NSA. He stole a program called Thorngate to prove that the government is spying on American citizens. Theres a good chance Artie is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, but Olivia digs into his story just to be sure. As it turns out, the guy is legit. The team assembles in a safe house while Huck hacks into Thorngate. The program self-destructs moments after they see an unaware Cyrus chatting inside the White House. Big Brother really is watching. Everyone!
Harrison and Abby head off to track down a woman named Monica who was on the Thorngate development team. They need this lady to corroborate Arties story until Huck can hack into the NSA to get the program back. Too bad Monica is dead in her apartment from what looks to be a suicide. The black sedan parked outside suggests that maybe Artie isnt paranoid enough. In other news, Olivia meets with a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Edison Davis. These two have obviously known each other for many years. Edison warns Olivia to stay away from the NSA.
As Mellie folds some new baby clothes sent to her by the Queen of England (yes, they are some really fancy baby clothes), she lets her husband know that its nice how the two of them are getting along now. Cyrus has also noticed that Fitz has been happy lately. At least, hes been acting happy. Fitzs exterior mood takes a dark turn once he learns that the NSA may have a whistleblower regarding Thorngate. He gets even more upset upon seeing a photo of Edison Davis meeting with Olivia. Cyrus knows his boss is a ticking time bomb.
Fitz is not the greatest shot when it comes to duck hunting. Still, its an activity he must engage in from time to time for political reasons. This particular hunting trip gets personal as two secret service agents deliver Olivia to the woods. Fitz must first fit her with some proper footwear before they have a private chat. Its the most stimulating, fervor-filled, uncomfortably silent shoe-fitting ever. The Cinderella moment ends when Fitzs fury over the Thorngate situation and Olivias meeting with her ex-boyfriend, Senator Davis, boils over. Rage turns to passion as the two of them kiss hard under a tree. Olivia ultimately pushes Fitz away telling him that its over. Talk about a scene that leaves you emotionally spent.
Mellie notices the difference in Fitz after his return from the hunting trip. She debriefs a couple of Secret Service agents in her own special way to learn that the cause of her hubbys mood swing was another secret meeting with Olivia Pope. Mellie screams at Fitz to get over her now. If he sees her again, she'll blow him away politically. We believe shell do just that. After all, shes a much better shot than Fitz. The hits have come rapidly for the president as he also knows that Cyrus used Thorngate during his late night chats with Olivia.
Olivia believes the only way to keep Artie alive is to go on national TV to expose what the government is doing to its citizens. Fitz wants to launch a legal tsunami to quash the interview. The network is about to buckle to the pressure until Olivia gives its boss a personal sneak peek at what Thorngate is all about once Huck gets everything back online. Too bad the man of the hour isnt ready for his close-up. Artie skips out of the safe house after swiping the Thorngate drive. He hops into the black sedan thats waiting for him outside.
Artie Hornbacher scammed Olivia in order to get her team to decrypt Thorngate. He killed Monica to help with the ruse. Huck tracks down Artie. He turns the guy over to the proper authorities after only hurting him a little. Abby knows Huck saved them on this one. She also knows that she cant keep hurling digs at Quinn after her colleague/former murder suspect tells her to go to hell. In other news, Edison Davis wants Olivia to take him on as a client now that the president has removed him from the Intelligence Committee. Our favorite fixer assures the senator that she no longer has any ties to the White House.
U.S. Attorney David Rosen has some explaining to do when his assistant, Alissa, catches sight of his Beautiful Mind-like research wall regarding the Quinn Perkins trial. So he explains. David knows that Olivia wouldnt have gone to such extremes to manipulate the justice system without good reason. He now believes that someone else may have wanted Quinns boyfriend and his coworkers dead. Someone else may have had a more sinister motive for the murders. Quinn may not be a killer, but someone in her office must know something about a possible cover up. Perhaps David can get the scoop now that hes sleeping with Abby. (from ABC.com)
